Ideas for survey - CSD Leadership meeting
Posted by: Pamela Carvell at 2:31PM CST on November 10, 2009

Hello CSD members,   Members of the CSD Leadership will be getting together the first weekend in December to discuss the division, where we are, where should we be, and how do we get there.  To help with this, we will be putting out a survey to the CSD members.  I am asking for ideas as to questions for this survey.

Some things to get us thinking might be: What do seeas the focus of CSD?; What role do you see CSD playing in ASQ?; what services do you see CSD providing?;  why did you join the Customer-service division? do you attend section meetings?

These are just some thoughts.  Please add your ideas. Thank you.  Pam

Annual Business Meeting Minutes
Posted by: Dennis Arter at 6:38PM CST on October 29, 2009
Meeting Minutes for Meeting held on May 17, 2009 at WCQI in Minneapolis The meeting was called to order by the Chair – John Blakinger. The Attendees were: Stephanie Parker, John Blakinger, Pat LaLonde, Tom Schoenfeldt, Pam Carvell, Janet Raddatz, Bill Barthold, Dick Gould, Tim Turner, Dave Laudenslager, Greg Novacek, Aimee Siegler, Dennis Arter, Philip Heinle, Cynthia Nazario, Greg Hutchins. Financials: John presented the financial information as of March 2009. Checking $82, 704.31 and Money Market $88, 876.51 for a total of $171,580.82. The current balance of funds is around $160,000. It was moved that the financial report be accepted by Tom Schoenfeldt and seconded by Bill Barthold. It passed unanimously. Membership: We are losing members - Discussed potential causes. We need to get analysis of data to try to understand what is really happening with the membership. One idea was to call people to renew their division membership as well as trying to collect information from them. Awards: Pat LaLonde gave out the awards this year. The Maass Award went to Dennis Arter. The Meadows Award went to Janet Raddatz. CSD Leadership: The slate of officers was presented and Dave Laudenslager moved that it be accepted. The second was by Janet Raddatz. This passed unanimously. Voice of the Customer: This was presented by Dick Gould. Headquarters will have software available so that surveys can be analyzed. The Division needs to have a Voice of the Customer Chair. This is how the account will be set up. Qualtrix is the software that is being used. It is much more user friendly. A suite of standard surveys will be developed. This will allow comparisons across various member units. The calling will involve 5-6 volunteers about 2 hours per month to make the calls. Dave Laugenslater agreed to do the membership analysis. People that volunteered to make calls were:
  • Pat – California area
  • Bill – Upper Midwest
  • Pam – East Coast
  • Dave – East Coast
  • John – Northwest
The people that are making the calls will need to know where to point the people as questions arise. CSD Storyline: The idea of the possibility of doing a conference within a conference at the next WCQI was discussed. This would be in place of the symposium. There is a desire to continue to run the symposiums in a World Café Format. Roadshows: These are in the garage right now. A discussion was held on new launch dates for the roadshows. Dennis expressed a desire to see them start in the Spring/Summer of 2010. There was hesitation in the group about the restart because of the economic situation that exists right now and how the contracts with the hotels have to be written. Discussion Boards: This was discussed as a method to try to get more people involved in the division. Share Point: This should be the document storage area for the division documents. The meeting was adjourned by John Blakinger. ACTION ITEMS:
  • New Membership chair – Do some analysis
  • Welcome calls – Pat, Bill, Pam, Dave, John
  • Talk to Anne about Webcast (Symposium?) – John
  • There is the August deadline for submitting a conference within a conference to headquarters.
  • Greg Novacek – Follow up with the Learning Institute about catalog and IP
  • WebEx Java from ASQ
  • Person is needed to summarize CSD Discussion Board conversations.
Respectfully submitted, Tom Schoenfeldt, Secretary

CSD leadership has been asked about the next symposium.

We need to make a decision about the symposium during our December planning meeting. We've talked about possibly having a symposium in fall 2010.

Since this is a volunteer organization we welcome anybody interested in participating in the delivery of the next symposium. give me a call 541-593-9394

Supply-Chain Body of Knowledge
Posted by: Dennis Arter at 11:53AM CST on October 20, 2009
Five ASQ divisions have a need to provide supply-chain management tools to their members: Biomedical, Food Drug and Cosmetic, Service Quality, Quality Management and Customer-Supplier.

To do this effectively we need an overarching Supply-Chain Body of Knowledge (SBOK).

We want your participation whether or not you are a Division or ASQ member.

Development of SBOK will require an iterative approach of defining, redefining and elaborating.

We will use the following steps to develop the SBOK:
  • Define, refine and elaborate an outline of the SBOK components
  • Associate volunteers to the components. The volunteers will write brief descriptions of the components; again iteratively define, refine and elaborate.
  • Create marketing plan for the SBOK
  • Engage the ASQ publications group to provide editing assistance and linkage to the QBOK (Quality Body of Knowledge).
We will use a cool (and free) mind mapping Internet site to facilitate the development of an outline. It's called MindMeister.

http://www.mindmeister.com/28938558/supply-chain-management

Anyone can see the progress to date. You’ll need to set up an account to be able to edit the mind map. Make sure you get the free account. To set up an account while viewing the mind map, click on EDIT at the bottom left and create an account.

What’s great about the tool is that several people can edit the map at the same time. So when you make edits you can call a friend and work together to refine and elaborate the outline.

I recommend that you go view the mind map and make a few edits (when you have an account) so you understand how the tool works.

When making major additions or changes call a buddy and work on it together, real-time.

Posted by: Ver-Non T. Wakefield at 10:31AM CST on October 12, 2009

Hello all we are now introducing our Welcome Letter and Contact. We are striving to make some form of communication with all new members. This communication will come in either the form of a phone call and/or an email.

I am asking for patience as we will work through this process and will strive to modify this process to adapt to a format that is truly workable.

The goal is communication. The Customer Supplier Division would like to make you all welcome.
