Welcome to ASQ’s Mentoring Program.
ASQ members identified mentoring as a needed benefit during conducted research. ASQ is happy to announce the launch of this new benefit within the Student, Associate, Fellow, Full, and Senior membership. With the customer need identified, the mentoring program will provide mentors the opportunity to:

* Share their hands-on workplace experiences with others interested in excelling their career in quality
* Provide suggestions for the practical application of the quality tools, methodologies, and principles as they are applied to diverse quality initiatives
* Provide guidance and insights to becoming a leader within an individual’s organization

The mentoring program will provide protégés the opportunity to:

* Learn from experienced ASQ Fellow quality professionals.
* Gain an understanding of the practical application of the quality tools, methodologies, and principles throughout their organization
* Build leadership skills

Mentoring relationships include guiding and coaching about options, decisions, and choices in a person’s professional and career development. These relationships are usually between an individual with significant experience (mentor) and another who is seeking development in a specific area (protégé). Each has the opportunity to develop professionally through the transfer of experience and knowledge.

The voice of the customer proved the pilot program for mentoring was successful, so we are moving into Phase 2 which opened the door of mentor participation to all ASQ Fellows. Phase 2 launches in early 2008 with over 60 Mentor participants.
